Studio Visit: Print Your Light
Melançon + Mader welcomed lighting planner Sebastian Godenzi from Print Your Light to our studio to share the production process and offerings for their customizable 3-D printed light fixtures. For the new restaurant and bar in Basel’s Hotel Trois Rois, renovated by Herzog & de Meuron, Print Your Light collaborated with artists Gerda Steiner & Jörg Lenzlinger to develop the lighting installation above the central bar. Using 3-D printing technology and PLA (a biopolymer derived from a renewable raw material) Print Your Light creates nuanced shapes and lighting effects not possible with mass production products. As lighting design is integral to Melançon + Mader’s architectural design services, we look forward to potential collaborations with Print Your Light in the future.
